OPENING CEREMONY
Długi Targ (Long Market), Artus’ Court entrance terrace / Look out for the buglers in the Artus’ Court windows!
The official openning of St. Dominic’s Fair will be anounced to the world by a special bugle call – one written specialy for this occasion. It will be played by 16 buglers who can be seen in the windows and on the roof of the Artus’ Court. The trumpeters will be acompanied by the Gdańsk City Hall carillion. As according to the tradition every year new note is added to the buggle call therefore its never exactly the same. The citizen of Gdańsk and the guests from all over the world will be welcome by a colorfull parade led by Hermes (patron of the merchants) and incarnadine rooster (the symbol of the market!). In this historic and orginal circumstances the President of Gdańsk will pass the city keys to the merchants.

CLOSING CEREMONY

The Master of the Ceremony will tell the public what he saw and heard during the 23 days of the Fair. The keys to the city will be returned to the city’s governors, and the Mayor will deliver the traditional address: “I now pronounce the St. Dominic’s Fair officially closed!”
The drummers will strike the snare drums. The ceremony will be closely watched by the rooster (the symbol of the Fair) who will keep the last pillow to find a place to sleep.
Next year, the rooster be back to wake up the city for another St. Dominic’s Fair!
